The story

Thoughtful finishes and efficient spaces give a townhouse development its own identity.

DesignShanly Simpson

For this affordable townhouse development, the challenge was to create a cohesive group of homes that still felt individual. Space planning, materials and finishes needed to work together at a compact scale.

Shanly considered the colours, fixtures and finishes as part of a connected design. Contrasting exterior materials give the homes distinction, while the interiors focus on function and easy movement.

A closer look / Mt Wellington

Townhouse development with contrasting finishes and individual entrances.
Contrasting finishes give each townhouse definition while keeping the development visually connected.
Compact timber balcony with outdoor chair beside sliding glass doors.
A carefully placed outdoor chair makes even a small balcony somewhere to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
Townhouse with a glazed upper balcony and sheltered ground-floor terrace.
Outdoor spaces on both levels extend the places available for everyday living beyond the rooms themselves.
Compact dining area beside a kitchen with contrasting cabinetry.
A round table fits neatly beside the kitchen, creating a place to share a meal without crowding the space.
Mt Wellington townhouse exterior with pale cladding and dark trim.
A restrained mix of light cladding and dark details gives the exterior a clear, cohesive identity.

Small spaces, carefully considered.

Pale seating, streamlined kitchens and outdoor connections help the rooms feel open. The design demonstrates how a clear palette and well-proportioned furniture can bring character to a smaller home.
